If Kim and Stevan's wedding ceremony was everything, their reception nine months later was nothing short of spectacular. Evoking the timeless assurances that true love never ends and the best things in life are worth waiting for, this wedding design also proved that understated elegance will never go out of style.

Highlighting a complementary, yet contrasting mix of old meets new, our Creative Team’s design quintessentially fit our couple by bringing elements of the old world into a modern era. From the timeless feel, to the enduring family traditions, a little magic show and an unforgettable view courtesy of an iconic downtown venue, the conclusion to this Serbian Orthodox wedding was truly one for the ages.

Nestled amongst Chicago’s iconic architecture yet again, Kim and Stevan took the opportunity to highlight the day’s many perspectives, donning their wedding dress and brocade tux attire. After capturing the then and now in a few stunning lakefront and museum campus photographs, they headed to the reception on the eightieth floor which featured equally remarkable views from above. Following many toasts by the family to provide moments of reflection and guidance, dinner was served, followed by an evening of dancing amid the starlit skyline, mirroring the design adorning both their cake and invitations.

Truly a time for reflection on marriage and the hope of what can be, everything old became new again, as our Creative Team reflected upon Kim and Stevan’s original vision and color palette of burgundy, blush, gold and ivory as a rare opportunity to rework a previous design with a twist.

Somewhere between classic and traditional, yet contemporary and metropolitan, with an air of modern sophistication, Kim and Stevan’s reception design needed to include elements from our original design, while touching upon the story of their marriage and their growing viewpoint as a couple.

An intentional mix of modern Casablanca era styling, this wedding was luxury at its finest, accented by a contemporary space which featured black accents and deep wood toned walls and furniture. Keeping the ivory and taupe interior in mind, our Creative Team selected cut crystal urns and candelabras to highlight the space, while keeping eyes on the stunning eighty story panoramic views, which are often considered the best the city has to offer.

Grounding the design in an old world look and feel and providing the room with a brighter and more romantic glow throughout the extended evening, our Creative Team selected trending pillar candles rather than traditional taper candles, along with alternating heights of cut crystal urns to fill the king tables throughout the lengthy ballroom, for a luxurious finish which made the already spacious room feel intentionally broader, taller, more inviting, even amid a larger guest count.

Accenting Kim and Stevan’s centerpieces, were custom gold table numbers designed and produced by our Creative Team, complete with vellum and metallic gold script, which bounced the candlelight around the space, played off of the warm tones of the space and ivory linen, and heightened Kim and Stevan’s request for candlelit ambiance. Surrounded equally by the warmth of tradition and the love of family and friends, this wedding was an opportunity to experience the Serbian Orthodox culture which our Creative Team will not soon forget.
